Explore the Minority Trustee Candidate Registry!

The American Hospital Association and its Institute for Diversity in Health Management and Center for Healthcare Governance are committed to increasing the racial and ethnic diversity of hospital boards.

That's why we have developed a one day, Trustee Education program to help interested individuals learn more about board service, while at the same time helping hospitals increase board diversity. The complimentary, one-day workshop explores the basic principles by which a hospital board operates, including the trustee's role and responsibilities and the board's role in setting strategy and determining policy, as well as the unique challenges faced by health care governing boards. Attendance at the 2010 Trustee Education Events in Atlanta, Chicago and Nashville was very high.

After the workshop, participants' names and resumes are entered in an online database that hospital leaders can search to identify potential board candidates. Local hospital association leaders then work with hospitals and health systems in the area to facilitate placement. This registry is current, up to date and available for immediate reference.
