Scholarships for Graduate Students:

Diversified Investment Advisors Leaders in Healthcare Scholarship: $5,000
Available to first and second year graduate students who are pursuing degrees in healthcare administration or comparable degree program (i.e., MBA, MPH, MHA, MPA, MSN or BSN). Individuals must demonstrate financial need, a commitment to community service and excel academically (minimum 3.0 GPA). Candidates for the 2007 Scholarship Program must be a member of a federally classified ethnic minority group.
Scholarships for Graduate Students:
Elliott C. Roberts Scholarship: $1,000
The Elliott C. Roberts Scholarship recognizes graduate student leaders who represent ethnically diverse cultural backgrounds and is named in honor of Elliott C. Roberts, Sr., one of the nation's leading public hospital administrators. Elliott C. Roberts, Sr., holds a MBA/HA degree from the George Washington University and has served as an executive with a number of hospitals for over 30 years.
In July of 1994, he completed 14 years as CEO of Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Commissioner of Hospitals and Executive Director of Detroit General Hospital, Executive Director of Harlem Hospital, New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation, Executive Director of Mercy Douglass Hospital in Philadelphia, Assistant Superintendant-Crownsville State Mental Hospital in Maryland, and Assistant Administrator of Provident Hospital in Baltimore. Although he retired as a full professor from LSU Medical School in the Department of Public Health and Preventative Medicine and from Xavier University College of Pharmacy, Mr. Roberts continues to teach management and health policy at both universities. The scholarship is available to second-year graduate students who demonstrate a commitment to community service, excel academically (minimum 3.0 GPA), and who demonstrate financial need. Candidates for the 2007-2008 Scholarship Program must be a member of a federally classified ethnic minority group.
Cathy L. Brock Memorial Scholarship: $1,000
The Cathy L. Brock Memorial Scholarship recognizes graduate student leaders who represent ethnically diverse cultural backgrounds and is named in memory of Cathy L. Brock, Director of Operations for the American Hospital Association's (AHA) Health Research and Educational Trust. Ms. Brock was dedicated to the Institute's mission of increasing the number of racial and ethnic minorities entering and advancing in the field of health care management. She served as the Institute's Director of Finance from its inception in 1994 and provided leadership to the Institute's development through her work at HRET. More than professional interest, this work was a personal passion for her.
This scholarship is available to first- and second-year graduate students who are pursuing degrees in healthcare administration or a comparable degree (ie., MBA, MPH, MHA, MPA) who demonstrate an interest or commitment to a career in finance. Individuals must demonstrate financial need and excel academically (minimum 3.0 GPA). Candidates for the 2007-2008 Scholarship Program must be a member of a federally classified ethnic minority group.
