"Business Case for Diversity Leaders"(7 pgs) From the Jan/Feb, 2012 Journal of Healthcare Management

This article by Ebbin Dotson, PhDF makes the argument that if leadership within a hospital or health organization can make embrace best diversity practices, they can reduce disparities and improve the quality of care that they can offer their patients. The article also gives three business cases that leaders can use to more effectively argue for diversity training.

"Building a Culturally Competent Organization; The Quest for Equity in Health Care."

(18pgs) The latest guide from the AHA's "Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence" initiative explores how hospitals and health systems can increase their cultural competency in order to provide care that is respectful of patients' diverse values, beliefs and behaviors. "Building a Culturally Competent Organization: The Quest for Equity in Health Care" was produced by the  Health Research and Education Trust in conjunction with the Institute for Diversity in Health Management. Advancing an organization's cultural competency has been shown to reduce racial and ethnic disparities in care delivery.
