Scholarship
The Elliott C. Roberts Scholarship recognizes graduate student leaders who represent ethnically diverse cultural backgrounds and is named in honor of Elliott C. Robert's, Sr., one of the nation's leading public hospital administrators. Elliott C. Robert's, Sr., holds a MBA/HA degree from the George Washington University and has served as an executive with a number of hospitals for over 30 years.
In July of 1994, he completed 14 years as CEO of Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Commissioner of Hospitals and Executive Director of Detroit General Hospital, Executive Director of Harlem Hospital, New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation, Executive Director of Mercy Douglass Hospital in Philadelphia, Assistant Superintendant-Crownsville State Mental Hospital in Maryland, and Assistant Administrator of Provident Hospital in Baltimore . Although he retired as a full professor from LSU Medical School in the Department of Public Health and Preventative Medicine and from Xavier University College of Pharmacy, Mr. Roberts continues to teach management and health policy at both universities.

Eligibility Criteria
The Elliott C. Roberts Scholarship is available to first and second year graduate students who are pursuing degrees in healthcare administration or comparable degree program (i.e., MBA, MPH, MHA, MPA, MSN or BSN).
Individuals must demonstrate financial need, a commitment to community service and excel academically (minimum 3.0 GPA). Candidates for this Scholarship Program must have proof of US citizenship.
Application Instructions
Please assemble the following materials and mail them together to the address listed below.

Include a recent resume, including voluntary and community activity.

College Transcripts from all attended schools, including undergraduate. (You may upload unofficial transcripts from the college website and include those to fulfill this requirement.)

Federal Student Air Report and Award Letter (if applicable).

Written proof of current enrollment (ie, Letter of Acceptance.)

Write the two (2) essays requested on the Scholarship Application.

Two (2) letters of recommendation is also required. Letters of recommendation should be written by a current or recent college professor.

Proof of US Citizenship. (Copy of Green Card, Birth Certificate or Passport. Social Security Card and/or Driver's License are not acceptable forms of identification.)

Your most recent income tax filing (both state and federal).
Once you complete your application and have acquired all required documents you must submit them to the Institute for Diversity, at the address below. Please do not send your application packets until they are complete and have all documents included. Incomplete packets will be rejected without notification to the sender. We do not accept application packets by email or fax.
