The Cathy L. Brock Memorial Scholarship recognizes graduate student leaders who represent ethnically diverse cultural backgrounds and is named in memory of Cathy L. Brock, Director of Operations for the American Hospital Association's (AHA) Health Research and Educational Trust. Ms. Brock was dedicated to the Institute's mission of increasing the number of racial and ethnic minorities entering and advancing in the field of health care management. She served as the Institute's Director of Finance from its inception in 1994 and provided leadership to the Institute's development through her work at HRET. More than professional interest, this work was a personal passion for her.
Eligibility Criteria
The Cathy L. Brock Memorial Scholarship is available to first and second year graduate students who are pursuing degrees in healthcare administration or comparable degree program (i.e., MBA, MPH, MHA, MPA, MSN or BSN).
Individuals must demonstrate financial need, a commitment to community service and excel academically (minimum 3.0 GPA). Candidates for this scholarship program must have proof of US citizenship.
Application Instructions
Please assemble the following materials and mail them together to the address listed below.

Include a recent resume, including voluntary and community activity.

College Transcripts from all attended schools, including undergraduate. (You may upload unofficial transcripts from the college website and include those to fulfill this requirement.)

Federal Student Air Report and Award Letter (if applicable).

Written proof of current enrollment (ie, Letter of Acceptance.)

Write the two (2) essays requested on the Scholarship Application.

Two (2) letters of recommendation is also required. Letters of recommendation should be written by a current or recent college professor.

Proof of US Citizenship. (Copy of Green Card, Birth Certificate or Passport. Social Security Card and/or Driver's License are not acceptable forms of identification.)

Your most recent income tax filing (both state and federal).
Once you complete your application and have acquired all required documents you must submit them to the Institute for Diversity, at the address below. Please do not send your application packets until they are complete and have all documents included. Incomplete packets will be rejected without notification to the sender. We do not accept application packets by email or fax.
